Kristi DuCote is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, and an EMDRIA-trained EMDR Therapist, practicing in the DFW area. Kristi is a graduate of Amberton University earning a master’s degree in Licensed Professional Counseling (4.0 GPA). She also earned a bachelor of arts with a major in psychology and a minor in criminal justice from the University of North Texas.
After graduating UNT in 1992 and working several years in the fast-paced business world, Kristi made the decision to stay home and raise her children. In 2011 Kristi decided to return to school to earn her MA and pursue her lifelong calling to help those who suffer with mental health issues.
Kristi is now accepting clients at Lake Ray Hubbard Counseling in Rockwall, TX. She is currently an EMDR therapist and counselor for Rockwall County and recently served as an EMDR therapist and COPSD counselor at Nexus Recovery Center in Dallas, TX. She recently worked at Garland Behavioral Hospital in Garland, TX doing assessments for their intake department as well as groups for adults in inpatient treatment. She also worked with adolescent girls at Timberlawn Mental Health Systems doing individual and group therapy, family counseling, treatment plans and discharge plans. Kristi has also spent time as a therapist working with females on probation at Phoenix House in Wilmer, Texas. She fulfilled her practicum requirements working at Timberlawn Intensive Care Unit where she gained valuable experience working with adults in an acute care environment, and did her internship under supervisor Vicki Moody, MA, LPC-S, LCDC, NCC. Although EMDR therapy is one of Kristi’s specialties, she does practice traditional talk therapy, primarily utilizing the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques.
Kristi is both a mom and a step-mom. She has been a stay-at-home mom as well as a member of the workforce juggling work and family life. Kristi has been happily married for over 25 years. She was personally drawn to the field of psychology because of her firsthand experience with mental health issues and addiction in her own family.
